Habitat LA ReStore FAQs
What are the Habitat for Humanity ReStores?
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) operates three Habitat LA ReStores. We sell new and gently used goods such as furniture, appliances, tools, and building materials in a home-improvement-thrift store environment. Every purchase helps low-income families access safe, decent and affordable homes.
Do you offer delivery/shipping for Habitat LA ReStore purchases?
We do not offer delivery for purchases, although we have partnered with Lugg to offer a $10 discount for their services when used at Habitat LA ReStores. We also have an eBay store for smaller items that offers free shipping on most items within the United States. Check out our eBay for Charity site here: Habitat eBay
What happens with my donation? Does it go into a home built by Habitat?
Material donations are not used in Habitat homes. Instead, our Habitat LA ReStores sell them at low cost to the public. The Habitat LA ReStores generate a valuable revenue stream that enables Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Los Angeles area to build more decent, affordable housing for hard-working, low income families. Your donation not only helps support the construction of Habitat homes, it also helps reduce the costs of home improvement for other homeowners in the LA community.
Are Habitat LA ReStores open to the public?
Yes! Stop by our three locations in Los Angeles: Bellflower, Torrance, and Mid-Wilshire. Effective 1/28/22, our stores are open 7 days a week, 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
What do the Habitat LA ReStores sell?
Habitat LA ReStores tend to resemble a home improvement store — a very unique home improvement store. At the majority of Habitat LA ReStores you’ll find items that fit into the following categories: building materials, appliances, furniture, home décor and so much more! The items you’ll find will range from brand new to gently used, and there will likely be a wide range of brands and styles. Of course, that’s not all you’ll find. Because the inventory of each Habitat LA ReStore depends on donations, you never know exactly what you’ll find. We recommend heading to your local Habitat LA ReStore today to see what's in stock! (Of course, you may want to go back next week, too, to see what new items have arrived).
Does the ReStore offer building deconstruction services?
We unfortunately do not have the resources to deconstruct or dismantle any items to be donated. We recommend contacting the Deconstruction and Reuse Network for this service.

Habitat LA Donation FAQs
What donations do Habitat LA ReStores accept?
We accept household items or building materials, which can include a wide variety of products. Habitat LA ReStore donations come from all kinds of sources — from your neighbor after a finished home project to a large wholesale furniture distributer. You can find a list of items we are currently accepting here.
How do Habitat LA ReStores help the environment?
When items are donated to the Habitat LA ReStores they are kept out of the landfill and given a second chance at life. Since 2004 the Habitat LA ReStores have diverted over 13 million pounds from landfills.
How soon can you come pick up my donation?
We schedule 3 to 7 days out depending on the time of the month and your location. You can call to schedule a pickup at 424-246-3637 or schedule your own pickup online here.
Is there a fee to have my donations picked up?
There is no mandatory fee for pickups. We do have a suggested tax-deductible donation of $15, which helps us cover transportation costs. We are extremely appreciative of any contribution you can make to Habitat LA. The more we save on costs, the more we can do for low-income homeowners in LA!
Can the Habitat LA ReStores pick up donations that are inside my home?
Due to concerns surrounding the spread of the COVID-19, we have altered our donation pick-up procedures. Until further notice, our truck teams will no longer enter the donor’s home. All donations will need to be brought outside (on the driveway, porch or garage; we kindly ask that you DO NOT leave the items curbside) just prior to the pick-up time. No assistance loading the items into the truck will be required. Thank you for your understanding as we do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Do the Habitat LA ReStores repair donated items and materials?
Unfortunately, we currently do not have the resources to repair or touch up items, which is why we can only accept gently used donations that are in good, working condition.
If I’ve scheduled my donation pickup how do I receive my tax deduction receipt?
Our drivers will email you a donation receipt once they have received the items from you. We can also provide you with a hard copy receipt upon request. Legally, Habitat for Humanity cannot appraise your donation(s), so all donors must fill out an estimated value for their donation(s) on the receipt. Please keep in mind that you are required by law to fill out IRS Form 8283 for any donation you value at $500 or more. Any donation with a total value of $5,000 or more must also be professionally appraised.
